Give

"Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the One who is over all things. Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength. O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name!" 1 Chronicles 29:11-13

What is a Pledge? - A pledge is an estimate of how much money you plan to give to Holy Cross in a given year. It is not a binding contract. Circumstances can change – and pledges may be revised up or down depending on your situation.

Why pledge? - Your pledge makes it possible for Holy Cross to create a budget for our staffing, ministries, programs and outreach for the coming year. Pledging is the primary basis for what we can accomplish as a church. Pledging is also a spiritual discipline that provides a tangible way for you to grow in your faith by sharing the resources God has blessed you with.

How much should I pledge? – Just as everyone has a different financial situation, the amount of your pledge is an individual decision and will be unique and reflect your own life situation and sense of commitment to the church. Pledges of any amount are welcome and necessary for our ministries.

How do I pledge? – You may pledge by going to the to our online pledge form. On the pledge form, indicate the amount of your pledge on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual basis – whatever frequency works best for you. You may pledge to the Operating Budget or the Building Fund or both. You can also print one out from the website and bring it to the Holy Cross office or place it in the offering plate on Sunday morning.

The word “tithe” means one tenth. So when you tithe, you give one tenth or 10% of your earnings. Generosity is the New Testament standard for giving. Tithing (10%) is a great place to start. Offerings are gifts given above the tithe, such as gifts to our building fund, memorials, or missions. God has blessed some people financially who are able to give substantially more than 10% and still live comfortably.

We recognize that Jesus talked more about giving than He did on any other subject. Matthew 6:21 says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Together, we work as a church to reach the lost. Malachi 3:10 says, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enoughto store it.” The storehouse today is the local church you are attending. By partnering our monies together, God’s work is done more effectively.

Your gifts are used to fund God’s work through the ministry the church. We do this through our weekend services for adults and kids, through our ministries to children, youth and adults in programs such as Griefshare and through our support of local and worldwide missionaries. We can accomplish more together than separately.

The Lord requires us to be faithful regardless of how much He has entrusted to us. Luke 16:10 says “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” It is when we are having financial struggles that we can’t afford not to tithe. God wants us to trust Him in everything, including our finances. God asks us to tithe because through that, we become unselfish people and we show that we trust God to provide for our needs. As we grow in our relationship with Christ, it always requires faith. Trust God by giving to Him even when it seems impossible and allow Him to show you His provision for your life.

Yes. Our budget each year is determined based on the goals and objectives of each ministry area within the church. The annual budget is approved by our Vestry and reported to the members at our annual meeting, usually held in January. As well, a report of our monthly and year to date financial activity can be found on the weekly church bulletins.

The on-line giving program is configured to accept direct payments from checking or savings accounts. We also accept credit & debit card payments. You also will have the option of paying the ACH or credit and debit card fees in lieu of that expense being paid by Holy Cross, should you wish to do so.
