Our 5K students will be taking the next big step into their primary education! Your child will enjoy the environment and culture of a small, Christian school while learning the core subject areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, History, and the Bible. Reading, handwriting skills, and phonemic will be taught through Heggerty and Christian Light curriculums. Additionally, we use SmartBoard technology to bring multi-media learning opportunities to improve learning, enhance literacy, boost attentiveness, and increase comprehension in the classroom. Special areas taught weekly include Chapel, Music, Art, Spanish, and STEM. The low student-to-teacher ratio enables the teacher to provide individualized attention to her students, address different learning styles, and accommodate personalized education plans for each child.
Bible Stories: Each Month will have a different theme word like patience, gratitude, and forgiveness and we will have different stories from the bible to go along with that word and see what God says about the word, 2 verses a month. Along with hands-on crafts and Chapel!
ELA: We are using Heggerty for Phonics and Christian Light for Reading Comprehension, and handwriting. We will continue to work on letters and letter sounds but then move on to sight words and decodables for their level and writing basic sentences.
Math: We will use the Bridges Curriculum which is a hands-on, workplace, which is group setting, play-based to learn numbers, number sense, and then later adding and subtracting numbers up to 10.
Science and Social Studies: Science Topics: Weather, weather symbols, plants, animals (hibernation), five senses, magnets, and sink/float
Social Studies: Community Helpers, wants vs. needs, maps, rules, how people change or stay the same over time, similarities and differences between oneself and others.
